LOCATION #1 - Park/Garden
Parks and gardens are amazing locations for senior photos because nature and flowers make beautiful backgrounds for photos. The North Bridge Park is one of our favorite places to go all 4 seasons in the year and we've scouted out almost a dozen different spots throughout the park that make for beautiful spots for photos.
The great thing about New England is that the nature looks so beautifully different each season. When picking a park or garden, make sure you choose one that has a lot of variety in its nature. You want a location that has at least some, or all of the following- trees, flowers, plants, bushes, big rocks, and benches. Pro tip- Don't go to a park that only has a playground and no trees or flowers in sight!
Popular loations include: The North Bridge in Concord, Great Meadows in Carlisle, and Fresh Pond Parkway in Cambridge
LOCATION #2 - The Beach
The beach is a timeless place for a photoshoot. Many beaches have amazing variety like soft sand, ocean waves, big rocks, or tall grass. You can have a lot of fun at the beach for a photoshoot playing in the water, too. Make sure you go around sunset to get a beautiful, soft and glowy light. This is called 'the golden hours.' Don't go in the morning or afternoon when it's full sunny outside or the sun light will be too harsh for any good photos.
Popular locations include Revere Beach, Nahant, MA, Gloucester, MA, and Cape Cod
Location #3 - Your Backyard
If you have a nice yard at your home, having some or all of your photoshoot can be a great idea. Your own home holds a lot of meaning and nostalgia. It's always an amazing feeling to look back on old photos that bring back great memories spent at home.
Sometimes there aren't a lot of options for taking photos in the backyard, but you still want to get some at home. Another great option is to have part of your photoshoot at home and the other part at a different special location. Best of both worlds.
Location #4 - Special Interest Oriented
The great thing about incorporating a special interest is that you can get traditional photos AND photos that reflect a unique side of who you are at this time in your life.
This location can be almost anywhere. If you want to incorporate a dog or other similar pet, a musical instrument, or a sport then you can add this to your senior session at any location. If you're bringing a pet, make sure you check the rules at the location you're going to make sure they're allowed.
If you ride horses, then the location would most likely be at your local stable where you ride!
