When choosing a location for senior photos you should make sure there’s variety in the scenery. 

In general, the best types of locations for senior photos are-

  1. Beach
  2. State Parks
  3. Nature reserve
  4. Gardens
  5. Mountains

Types of locations you should AVOID are-

  1. Open fields with nothing there
  2. Parks with playgrounds
  3. Busy neighborhoods

IF you’re going to the beach you should look for any or all of the following:

  1. Pretty sand
  2. Large rocks
  3. Tall grass

IF you’re going to any of the other types of nature locations you should look for any or all of the following:

  1. Pretty flowers or bushes
  2. Trees
  3. Shady areas
  4. Things to sit on or lean against - big rocks, benches, fence posts, or trees for example

1. Fort Foster Park - Kittery Point, ME

Address: Pocahontas Rd, Kittery Point, ME

Description: Fort Foster Park is a huge nature park with trails, beach access, and a pier. We love how much variety in nature there is here. Beautiful trees and also beautiful coastal views with big boulders to walk on. The park is quite big, so it never feels crowded. This location is great year round because there is so much variety, but it will be the best in the summer and fall to catch the best colors in the nature.

Parking: Parking lot inside the park

2. Mount Agamenticus - York, ME

Address: Mount Agamenticus, York, ME

Accessibility: You can hike up or drive to the top (road is open weather permitting during the winter months)

Description: Mount Agamenticus is the perfect little slice of mountain vibes without having to drive all the way into the mountain regions. The view points are amazing and the whole area has so many opportunities for beautiful photos. There is also a Learning Lodge at the summit, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm-4pm between Memorial Day Weekend and Indigenous People's Day. This location is best between late spring and fall. If you come in the winter, make sure you come prepared with the right outdoor shoes in case there's snow or mud.

Parking: You can park for free at the base or at the summit

Bathrooms: Yes. Portapotties at the summit seasonly. Portapotties at the base year round.

3. York Harbor Beach - York, ME

Address: 1 Stonewall Ln, York, ME

Description: This beach has it all. Pretty sand, big boulders, and a cliff walk that is perched above the beach. There are a lot of possibilities for great photos here. This location would be great year round. During the warm months you'll have warm-glowy photos and summer outfits. During the cold months, the beach is still great because it's dramatic and moody, sometimes ethereal.. and there won't be any crowds at all. Cozy warm layers are a great look for photos.

Parking: Limited streetside parking. You can also use the trolley to access the beach.

Pets: Dogs are allowed before 8am (off leash) and after 6pm (on leash)

4. Wiggly Bridge - York, ME

Address: Old Mill Rd, York Harbor, ME

Description: The wiggly bridge is a fun and unique location. There is a walking path that goes along the water, across the bridge, and into the woods. There are nice views on the water and the bridge is a lot of fun to be on. This location would be great year round because of all the interesting elements going on.

Parking: Streetside parking.

Fee: No

5. Wagon Hill Farm - Durham, NH

Address: 156 Piscataqua Rd, Durham, NH

Description: Wagon Hill Farm is 40 acres and is often recognized for it's iconic wagon landmark at the top of the hill. This farm is perfect for nature views and nature walks. The trees, tall grass, and surrounding scenery are beautiful for photos. This location would be best in the summer and fall. Or during the winter after a fresh snowstorm.

6. Hamilton House - South Berwick, ME

Address: 40 Vaughans Ln, South Berwick, ME

Open Season: June 4th - October 16th, 2022

Description: Hamilton House is a historic location dating all the way back to 1785. It's regarded as a quintessential country estate and overlooks the Salmon Falls River. There's a perrenial garden, cottage, and beautiful grounds to walk around. If you like nature garden vibes, this is a perfect place to come for photos. The best time of year for this location would be late spring and summer. Early fall would also be great.

Parking: Plenty of on-site parking available

Fee: Yes - $15 Adults, $13 Seniors, $7 students and children. Free for Historic New England members.

Pets: Yes

Bathrooms: Yes
